SABC3′s Carbon Free Card

1287696_three_treesOne of our local television channels, SABC 3, has been running a campaign for some time now focusing on providing “a solution to our carbon emissions and to restore the South African landscape to its formal glory”.

It’s always great to see any business throwing a lot of their energy into giving something back to the world and the community and this is no exception.

The idea behind the card is that you have an effect on the restoration of the ecosystem by having an indigenous tree planted on your behalf  in a protected sanctuary. In an ingenious use of technology, you will be able to watch your tree grow via GPS co-ordinates, meaning you don’t have to actually visit the protected sanctuary in order to see the results of your efforts.

All you have to do is purchase the Carbon Free or CarbonWorx Card which ensures that the tree will be planted on your behalf. Once you have the card you will be able to actively acquire points using the card at participating stores. Once you have gained a specified amount of points you can purchase more trees with these points meaning you can continuously be helping to restore and re-establish the ecosystems that are being threatened due to industrialisation and a failure to manage rural areas.

If you are interested in purchasing a Carbon Free Card and buying your own indigenous tree, contact CarbonWorx on 011 293 0000 or check out their website.

Have Tree Planting,

APART FROM USING THE INTERNET, ARE THERE ANY OTHER ACCESSABLE ALTERNATIVES TO PURCHASING A CARBON FREE CARD?

    Hi Hendrik,

Thanks for your interest. I tried to figured out which tree is the most effective in combating carbon dioxide but couldn’t seem to come across the answer.

I will try see if I can contact a horticulturalist and see if I can find out for you.

Hope you have a great and green day!
